One Week
I finished Gone Girl yesterday. Bleary eyed at 2AM, turned off my Kindle after a marathon 200+ page reading session and said, “Well…that was certainly a book.” It was a completely serviceable mystery-ish, drama-ish novel filled with mostly unlikeable characters and executed in an easy-to-read, borderline lazy style. It was designed to be a page turner and it did its job well, as there was no need to really reflect or think about anything you just read, you can just shut your brain off and flip the pages. I will forget the entire plot in a year and I certainly will not see the movie, which is guaranteed to be terrible.
But also sometimes I give sympathy likes to people stuck at home waiting to be able to walk again.
